Western Mechanical Handling is looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their team. WMH is a well established family-owned engineering business, specialising in the design and manufacture of production and process lines used in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
WMH supplies products and support services to a number of blue-chip companies in the UK and overseas.
The successful applicant will be joining a small but extremely capable team with a passion for delivering first class solutions.

Role Overview:
- Working from detailed engineering drawings to assemble machinery to a high standard. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Mechanical build of machines as per technical drawings, ensuring all components are assembled accurately and efficiently.
- Identifying and communicating any mechanical concerns or potential issues during the build process.
- Stripping down and packing machines for transport once commissioned.
- Carrying out machine installations at customer sites, providing support as required.
- Offering on-site service and troubleshooting for customers’ machines when needed.
Key Requirements:
- The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Ideally time-served (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 2 or higher). Experience in a similar industry is advantageous.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards.
- Ability to read and work from technical drawings, including pneumatic schematics.
- Knowledge of food production equipment is desirable but not essential.
- Multi-skilled applicants will be given preference.
