With a new month comes a new picture on our very special WMH calendar. For March we have a beautiful sunrise photograph taken by Ian Ewing, Contract Manager.
The photograph shows St Indract’s Chapel at Halton Quay on the Cornish bank of the River Tamar. The building was originally a clerk’s office when the quay was a thriving industrial hub during the 18th and 19th Centuries when the River was a busy trade route taking valuable locally mined minerals and ore to the main port or Plymouth. Since the mid-20th Century the building has been leased to the Church of England and is one of the countries smallest Anglican chapels, seating only 20 people.
The chapel is still in occasional use for services and weddings and is a popular location for photographers.
