WMH has recently completed the installation of an inline robotic cutting system for a west country desserts manufacturer. The new system will enable the customer to increase throughput as well as increase the range of products that can be cut.
WMH were approached by Bakkavor Desserts who were looking to replace an existing cutting system that was nearing the end of its useful life with a more modern approach which would enable them to cut both round products and rectangular tray bakes.
At the start of the project the customer visited WMH’s site to see a demonstration unit cutting their product. These trials along with discussions with the customer enabled WMH to specify which unit from their range would be the most suitable for the job. For Bakkavor’s product mix, cutting a mixture of round cheese cakes at 10 pieces per minute and rectangular tray bakes, it was decided WMH’s single robot inline unit would be the best solution.
“We decided to go with WMH for our new Cheesecake line after visiting WMH’s premises and seeing one of their demo units in action. The decision was based on the easy user interface and the speed of operation. We also felt the company’s professionalism and technical knowhow also were a major contributor in our decision.” Said Darron Sirmon Project Manager for Bakkavor Desserts.
Whilst Bakkavor were waiting for their inline unit to be manufactured they were able to hire one of WMH’s stand alone cutting cells enabling them to get into production straight away and to fully familiarise all the operators with the user interface.
“We are really pleased with the way this project has gone, particularly as this is the first single-robot inline system we have supplied so far.” Said a spokesman for WMH
