Ahead of the Fleet

 Engineers from WMH have recently beaten two teams of marine engineers in a competition to design, build and race cargo carrying boats.

Mike McLeish and Connor Kennedy formed part of a team of mechanical engineers in their final months study in Mechanical Design and Manufacture at Plymouth City College. The teams were set the task of designing and building a boat which would have to compete over a set course in Plymouth Sound.

Hand Finished in Cornwall

WMH has recently despatched a new hand-crimp pasty line to the UK's leading manufacturer of handmade Cornish pasties. The 12 metre long conveyor will form an integral part of an in-line operation in a new production facility in Bodmin.

In-house Promotion

Western Mechanical Handling has this week appointed Michael McLeish as Workshop Supervisor.

Since joining the company in 2005, as a trainee, Mike has developed to be a well-rounded skilled welder fabricator who works well within the team in Callington and when working on site during project installations.

Home Comforts Boosts Demand for Cheese

Following coverage on James Martin's Home Comforts show on BBC2 at the end of last year Lyburn Cheese have seen an increase in demand for their artisan hand-made cheeses. In order to cope with the upturn in sales WMH have recently supplied Lyburn with a new five-station cheese press to help increase production capacity at their New Forest dairy.
